PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Our industry sector and country experience has been in renewable energy, mining, infrastructure, heavy/light industry, oil & gas, food & beverage, and agricultural development in several countries in sub-Saharan Africa. We have successfully completed E&S projects that are funded by financial institutions such as the World Bank Group and other Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), including the KfW, AFC, AfDB, SWEDFUND, DEG, FMO, PROPARCO, and Africa based commercial banks and Private Equity firms.

Dr. Eric Egbe Igbinigie (PhD)

Managing Director & Lead Consultant

Eric is the Managing Director and Lead Consultant at ATS with over 20 years’ experience in Environmental & Social (E&S) impact management and advisory, research and academia. As an IFC-certified Environmental and Social Risk Manager (ESRM), he is a recognized expert in navigating complex ESG challenges. Dr. Igbinigie's in-depth knowledge of IFC Performance Standards is instrumental in guiding clients through E&S due diligence, risk assessment, and management processes. His leadership has been pivotal in establishing ATS as a trusted partner for organizations seeking to align their operations with international best practices.

As Managing Director, Dr. Igbinigie oversees strategic direction, business development, and client relationship management at ATS. His expertise in ESG risk management, coupled with his understanding of the African business landscape, has been instrumental in securing partnerships with leading financial institutions and multinational corporations in implementing Africa based industrial development projects. With a proven track record in the renewable energy, mining, infrastructure, and financial sectors, Dr. Igbinigie delivers tailored ESG solutions that drive sustainable growth and minimize credit, liability and reputational risks. His commitment to excellence and client satisfaction has positioned ATS as a leading ESG consultancy in the region. Eric holds a PhD in Environmental Biotechnology, a Senior Research Associate and Board Member at the Institute for Water Research, Rhodes University, South Africa. Eric is credited with two patents and several peer-reviewed publications in international journals.

Murphy Unuakhe

Sustainability Director

Murphy is the Sustainability Director at ATS, with over 23 years’ experience as a Sustainability strategist. He is based in London, United Kingdom, leads engagement with London based DFIs. His expertise include ESG and sustainable business management, environmental resource management and optimisation. He has a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, an MSc in Environmental Management and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). He is an Accredited Management Consultant (AMC), a Certified Management consultant (CMC), a Fairtrade Auditor (UK), a Fellow of the International Management Consultants Board (USA) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management Consultants.

His multinational environmental, sustainability and ESG experience include projects on environmental reporting (EIA, Eco Audit, ESIA, and EMS), ESG reporting & disclosures (based on SASB, IFRS-S1& S2, CDP, TCFD, SECR, GRI, CSRD, GHG Protocol, IFC, CDP, UNGC and SBTi standards and framework), sustainability strategies, climate change transition plans, water assessments, contaminated land assessment & remediation.

Ms. Ayanda Zide

(MSc, BSc. Hons)

Senior E&S Consultant

Ayanda is a Senior E&S Consultant at ATS with over 10 years’ experience in biodiversity conservation. Ayanda holds an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology, a BSc (Hons) in Botany and BSc in Botany, Chemistry and Microbiology. Her expertise lies in conducting comprehensive vegetation surveys, identifying sensitive ecosystems, and assessing potential impacts of development projects. Her proficiency in GIS enables her to effectively analyse and visualize spatial data, providing valuable insights for decision-making.

Ayanda’s project experience includes a range of project aspects in biodiversity in renewable energy projects, mine closure projects, environmental baseline assessments and ground truthing assessments.

Typically, Ayanda guides anthropogenic development to reduce adverse impacts on sensitive receptors in the natural environment, which has been instrumental in several DFI funded projects including renewable energy and mining projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Ayanda is an experienced project manager and coordinator. Her ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate complex findings to stakeholders makes her a valuable asset to any project.

Ms. Tshiamo Tsholofelo Sepato

(MSc, BSc Hons)

E&S Consultant

Tshiamo is an E&S Consultant at ATS with five years in the industry. Tshiamo is a seasoned aquatic ecologist specialising in water resource management with a keen focus on the application of diatom community composition to assess and establish water quality and ecological health. She has extensive experience in developing and implementing comprehensive water resource quality monitoring programs, identifying pollution sources, management, mitigation and evaluation of ecological impacts of development projects.

Her proficiency in data analysis enables her to provide actionable recommendations for water resource management and environmental protection. Ms Sepato's contributions to environmental impact assessments and water use license applications have been instrumental in ensuring the sustainable use of water resources in development projects from planning, construction, operation and decommissioning phases. Her passion for aquatic ecosystems drives her commitment to delivering high-quality environmental solutions.

Ms. Sandisa Mbulana

E&S Consultant

Sandisa is a Social Consultant at ATS with over three years’ experience in the industry. Sandisa holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Geography and Environmental Management from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Her applied experience spans various roles, focusing on and facilitating social and environmental themes. With over three years of experience working with diverse population groups and a commitment to social-environmental advocacy, she is well-equipped in research skills, stakeholder engagement and management, advisory services, social facilitation and grievance resolution, and social and environmental impact assessments.

Ms. Laurin Tshepo Maseko

OHS Consultant

Laurin has over three (3) years’ experience as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) consultant and is a registered Construction Health and Safety Officer with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP). She is also a SAMTRAC certified HSE consultant, proficient in OHSA regulations and standards in South Africa ensuring compliance with ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001 standards. As ATS’ HSE officer, Laurin provides extensive HSE support in development projects across South Africa and other African countries.

Ms. Amanda Radebe

Amanda is an E&S Consultant at ATS with over three years’ experience in consulting/advisory services, sustainability & climate change & academic research. Her expertise includes social and environmental impacts, climate change & sustainability, stakeholder engagement, research and GIS. She also has experience within the agrotechnology and software industry as a business analyst.
